The Johan Cruyff Arena, named in honour of Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff, opened in 1996 and serves as the home ground of AFC Ajax. Located in the Amsterdam ArenA district in Amsterdam South-East, it was one of the most modern stadiums in Europe at the time of its construction and regularly hosts major UEFA matches.
